Historical Championship of Ukraine (WPKA) 2025

After a break in training for more than 10 years, coach Roman Kardash entered four men into the Ukrainian Kickboxing Championship (WPKA), which took place on June 19-20, 2025, in Lviv. Considering that three of his four trainees had only been training for four months, the goal was to give them a chance to fight and experience the entire competition process. It can be said that the athletes underwent a “baptism of fire” and that a new team was born.

Yuriy PYLYPETS (pictured) won the silver medal in the 55 kg weight category in the full-contact section after two tough fights. In the low-kick section, he lost to an experienced athlete and settled for bronze.

Yuriy LEMEKHA won a gold medal and became the Champion of Ukraine in the weight category up to 50 kg in the full-contact section. Two more fights in light-contact and low-kick did not bring victory, but gave him great experience and two bronze medals.

Pavlo LEDA (up to 80 kg) had no rivals in the low kick section, so he took first place without a fight. The same thing happened in the full contact section, so the coach decided to enter Pavlo in the adult category in order to achieve the set goal – to gain experience in full contact fighting. The 16-year-old Leda faced an experienced 19-year-old fighter, lost the fight early, without injury, and putting up a decent fight. Recently, Pavlo has hardly trained due to preparing for university entrance exams, so respect for his courage.

Vasyl LESKIV competed among adults in the weight category up to 80 kg. In the low kick section, Vasyl won gold without a fight, and in full contact, he lost by a small margin to the athlete he had previously met, Leda, and took second place in the Championship.

The task set by the coach was accomplished. In two weeks, Kardash’s team of 10 people will go to a training camp, information about which will be provided later.

No further information will be provided about Levon Oganesyan’s team. This coach refused to comply with the decisions of the Organization’s governing bodies and expressed a desire to work separately from our Club, so he was expelled from the Triumph Club membership as a result of violating Article 3.5 of the Organization’s Charter – failure to comply with the decisions of the Organization’s governing bodies.
