The failure of the Ukrainian national team in Tokyo 2020. Why did this happen?

Anyone who is more or less versed in the system of training an athlete to maximize results can definitely say that TOKYO 2020 is a failure! What are the reasons for the unsuccessful team place, the reasons I see as an expert in the industry?
1. The peak of opportunities. I am never happy about the World and European titles of our athletes if they are won on the eve of the Olympic Games. Why? Because sports Ukraine is still using the Soviet training system, where the main thing is “points, goals and seconds”! First of all, the coach needs them, because they will give him merit, a raise and respect. Whether or not the ward will win the Olympic Games is another question. But the World Championships six months before the Games can. As a rule, strong athletes have already obtained a license and do not participate there, but rather prepare for the Olympics as part of the Olympic macro-cycle. It is IMPOSSIBLE to maintain the peak of athletic performance for more than 2 weeks! It is possible to bring an athlete to the maximum peak once a year, and then only with a good coach and medical team. Therefore, when the media applaud our athletes on the eve of the Olympics, you should know that the chances of this athlete at the Games are already minimal. They are, but they are minimal. They are more like extras. The task is to jump on the bandwagon on the move. The last chance. Undoubtedly, the mass psychosis of the pandemic also affected the result.
2. Very important! Psychology of sports activities. According to statistics, about 7 percent of Ukrainians visit psychics. About 5 percent seek the help of psychologists. I can only imagine what the percentage is among athletes. Ask the teams that took places in the top five of the Olympic Games. We look up to them, don’t we? Do they have psychologists? Are they full-time or part-time? Do they use the services of psychotherapists? Go and tell our boxer that he needs help in correcting his psychological state! Or tell his coach. Just put on a helmet and mouth guard first. Is there a shortage of staff? No! Although there is a problem. Is it a matter of complete disregard for the athlete’s psychological state by the coach? No. He thinks he can do anything. And in psychology. Everything is hidden behind motivation. Behind the “candy bar”. It doesn’t help much.
3. Support. An athlete cannot show maximum results without the presence of a coach. This is not only a factor of presence. It is a parent, it is the personification of the entire journey. It is a factor of faith in victory. In order to celebrate Independence Day and be proud of the country, you don’t need to spend millions of dollars on it, just give coaches the opportunity to go to competitions. Remove from the competitions all the “sholucha” that eats up the money allocated for the coaching staff. Put things in order in the Ministry and federations with their kickbacks. Incredible amounts of money are being stolen. As soon as a coach is old or too modest, he is immediately sent “to the garden”. He is not silent because he is afraid. He knows what will happen to his students in the future. This is the case in all federations, isn’t it?
4. Sports facilities that are gradually being destroyed and turned into private business areas. In addition, athletes thank not the state, but people who help them buy equipment and pay for food, provide an opportunity to pay for the medical and biological unit that is necessary for recovery. I think you have noticed this fact? Tokyo 2020 has shown us that despite all the difficulties we have faced recently, in conditions of total poverty compared to other countries, Ukrainians have proven that they can fight to the end. The athletes are no longer afraid to speak out about unfairness. I think we are on the way. There were scandals in Tokyo… there were tears, sweat mixed with blood and snot. At the next competitions of this rank, we may lose these prize-winners as well, because instead of gratitude, they received harassment for taking photos with Russian athletes, and people’s discontent for their positions in life. Professor Linets, a lecturer at Bobersky University, was right. 20 years ago, he said: “Athletes are the slaves of the 21st century! But they deserve respect for their work. What do you think?
